These cover the whole window but have independent panels on the top and bottom halves of the frame, opening like a stable door. This allows for control over each half of the structure separately, providing one of our most flexible options of shutter styles.

The design allows the top tier of panels to swing open independently from the bottom set; this means that the user can control their privacy and access to natural light with immense ease. This flexibility means that this option is ideal for those whose windows face out onto streets or any areas where onlookers could intrude on their privacy.

Do my tiers have to be the same size if I get a two-tiered shutter?

No, your two tiers can be different size. In fact, many of our customers choose to have different sizes so that the split between the two tiers aligns with the window line. If you are opting for louvred shutters, we usually recommend considering what the louvre split will be in the panels as a very small top tier may only have one or two slats which for design aesthetics may not look cohesive.

Are Tier on Tier shutters better than full height shutters?

This really comes down to personal preference and what you are looking for your shutters to offer you. Both have their own benefits and are better for different rooms. As full height shutters are one long panel, they provide the largest amount of light block and so work particularly well for bedrooms. If you would like the top and bottom slats to operate separately, this is still as possibility by opting for either a hidden break or a divider rail in the slat. If you would like the top panels to open separately like stable doors then tier on tier is the best option for you but with a lot of framing that comes with this style we would usually recommend this for larger windows.

What windows are appropriate for Tier and Tier shutters?

Your shutters are custom made for you and your home so you can have them on any window you wish. We do tend to recommend that if a window is particularly small that your choose our full height style of shutters instead as with two tiers of shutters it makes for a lot of framing on the window.
